Stop the racing mind!

Stop the racing mind!

A word from Dorothy reminded me of the power of silence.  Not one of my fortes!

When trouble shows it’s face,  it’s the hardest thing to be silent and not react.  Why do this to begin with?  It allows the Holy Spirit to have the upper hand,  it allows God to send the graces just in time for the right words to be spoken.

There’s an acronym:  HALT  which meant Hungry,  Angry,  Lonely,  Tired:     If you’re feeling any of these things the number one response is “no response”…because that’s when we act impulsively, and we react instead of responding.

My hardest thing is stopping my mind from going over and over the same old obsession or worry.  Oh!  that I would keep silent in thought and action when trouble hits!

So …what do I do?

I open up the word of God,  or go to that quiet spot in the church,  and ask God to give the graces to still my mind,  tighten my lip,  and thereby save the day.  I am a work in progress…  this is surely my conclusion about life!…We have to fight the good fight for peace and resolution one day at a day,  one battle at a time. I can make or break my own happiness,  and my own peace, and everyone elses’s for that matter if I speak those unwise,  unprayed for responses.

Hush and wait
